Ein Haflinger Freund ( viewtopic.php?t=12555 ) hat einen Tank von seinem
Serie 2 ausgebaut und ist damit zu mir gekommen. Der Tank sieht bis auf das untere Falz vom Steinschlagschutz
noch sehr gut aus. Unten ist das Blech etwas hoch gekommen und darunter rostet es.
Durch ist der sicher nicht, aber innen hat es auch sehr viel Flugrost. Der muss auf jeden fall neu Beschichtet werden .
Mein Gedanke wäre den auf den Betonmischer zu spannen , aber die Schwallbleche verhindern da wohl eine exakte Reinigung.
Wie macht ihr sowas ?

Hi Stefan,
Unless you want to cut open the tack, you will have to use a chemical to clean the inside of the tank.
You could try very small "pea shingle" stones and the cement mixer, but you runthe risk of the small stones going up the petrol feed pipe and getting stuck in there.
Chemical cleaning is a better option. You can buy water soluble rust remover, Make up a big bucket full, enough to completely cover the tank. Leave the tank in there for a week, then rinse several times with Hot, cwarm, cold water and preferably dry with an air compressor blast of air to dry it quickly so it does not develop any flash rust.
In case it does, you can coat the inside of the tank with a rust converter - changes Iron oxide (rust) in to Iron Phosphate (Black colour - not rust).
Then you coat with Tank sealant which is E10 resistant.
To stop this mixture going up the fuel delivery pipe, put some cloth in the end inside the tank - Very fiddely to do as it is so far away, but can be done if you make yourself some long tweezers.
Before you put the tank in the rust cleaner mixture, deal with the rust outside the tank so the rust removal mixture can get into all the little cracks.
