fuel tank disassembly

Beitrag von francesco rotti »

hello,i have a PINZGAUER model 712 year 1982.
I am contacting you from italy.
i need to disassembly the tank of my pinzgauer, because i think there is some clogged pipe.
In fact i put an external pipe from fuel filter to the tank and it runs.
But if i use the original pipe the engine does not start.
can you help me with some exploded views drawings.
thanks in advance.
Francesco / Italy.

I think the 75l FuelTank Drawing is easier to read :-)

Maybe you can unmount the Fuelfilter Line (the Side to the Tank) an blow some pressure Air through the pipe.
Robi (the Forums Owner) has that problem a few years ago ...

thanks Stefan
i have tried to blow compressed air after fuel filter, direction of the tank.
but no air is blowing in the tank (i think there is an unidirectional valve).

Hi Francesco,

Normally it should be possible to blow air I to the tank, there is no valve.
I had the same issue.
Replace the fuel hoses to ensure that they don't make any problems.
Then, remove the tank and remove the withdrawal pipe from the Tank. It's just mounted with some screws. To remove the fuel tank from the Prinz, I would recommend two persons and an empty tank. The pipe on my Pinzi was 1/3 in diameter due to a lot of dirt. We cleaned it by pushing a wire through it but it took some time due to the fact that the stuff was very hard.
Then re-assemble.
Also check the vent Hose on your fuel tank and replace it of neccessary.

Best regards from Munich

Hi Francesco,
There is a really good explanation how to remove the tank on that site: http://madscientisthut.com/sdp-pin/html ... moval.html
I did it myself last year to change all the tubes and to replace the original coating inside my 1973 pinz tank.

Hope that helps a little.

best regards,
Kurt

I had the problem that the gasoline hose sucked in air from outside.
I only saw this when I installed a piece of transparent hose in front of the petrol pump.
There you could see air bubbles moving to the pump and the pump could not deliver.

There was never moisture outside on the hose
