Can someone tell me if the wooden side-rails on a TD have the same profile dimensions as those on the air-cooled Pinzgauers?......Thanks.
I had to remove the wooden rails from my vehicle prior to importing it into Australia for quarantine reasons, but unfortunately forgot to note the dimensions etc prior to taking them off.
Wooden Side Rails
Re: Wooden Side Rails
Unfortunately they are not the same. The profile is a bit taller. The reason is that the smaller 710/712 does not provide enough tire coverage due to the wider track of the TD.
Maybe tomorrow i can take some measurements on mine.

Re: Wooden Side Rails
Thanks Richard! ....If you could get me the basic profile dimensions I'd appreciate it.
I thought the profile may be wider on the TD, as you have verified, but I need to get some new rails made for my 712 (my niece is using it for the brides vehicle when she gets married in August, so it has to look nice ) and thought if they were the same, I'd get enough machined for both vehicles in one go.
I trust all your vehicles are going well......Is your 718 rebuild completely finished now?
Regards from Australia.
