Wheel Rims
I'm debating what size tyre to run on my 718, and naturally the tyre size is directly related to the wheel rim width so I'd like some advice from other users.
I'm not keen on running a 235/85 X 16 tyre and would prefer either a 255/85 X 16 or a 285/75 X 16 but the latter two require wider rims (6.5" or a 7.00") than standard units.
If I do go for a wider rim one of my best option's cost wise, is to "re-rim" the standard 6JK X 16H2 wheel with a 7.00" rim using the original centre, but I'd have to find out what offset is on the 7.00" UK spec TD wheels.

Re: Wheel Rims
apart from legal reasons there is no problem to run the 285/75 or the 255/85 on the standart 6JK X 16H2 wheel.
I use this combination (285/75) for mor than 100.000 km without any problems, including heavy off road and desert rallys.
Now I have the 255/85 on the same wheel, this dimension fits the Pinzi much better, the 285 tyre is too wide for heavy off road.

Re: Wheel Rims
Why don't you take 7" SDP factory steel wheel?
758 153 0012 € 238,41 (excluding tax)
Offset 73mm
We could ship it to your place.
Or the Hutchinson rims:
http://www.shop.lorenz-offroad.de/janit ... PCatId=497
minus tax
On both Rims you could take 255/85 or 285/75
If you do Mud and Sand and Road and you are not fully loaden all the time, you should take the 255/85
If you do a lot of Sand and you are often driving over 3.8 ton, take the 285/75.
These are also the experiences of the tests in GB.

Re: Wheel Rims
Thanks for the info guys.....I didn't realise a 255 would fit a 6.0" rim, so given your usage and satisfaction with this size tyre on a standard rim, I think this might be my best option for me at present.
As regards the Hutchinson rims, I'd dearly love to get a set, but given what I've spent to date restoring the vehicle I think I'II have to wait a while till I "regenerate the coffers" (save some more money ) before I can justify purchasing a set.
Thanks again for the info guys!

Re: Wheel Rims
I spoke to the Automotive Engineer who is handling my case for registration of the 718 and the widest tyre I can legally fit to the 6JX16H2 rim is a 235.
Hmm, decisions, decisions.
